Commitment & Signing
Verbal Commitment
A verbal commitment is a non-binding pledge by a recruit to attend a college, made before signing a National Letter of Intent. Neither the athlete nor the school is bound until the NLI is signed, and verbal commitments can — and sometimes do — change.
A verbal commitment signals intent, but until the signing period, nothing is official.
Athletes should continue evaluating fit even after a verbal commitment, since circumstances can shift.
